Tawnyclaw padded out into the open at Mapleherb's call. She stopped dead in horror and disbelief when she saw Lilystar's and Gingerpelt's bodies lying out into the open, dead and bloody. She looked past them to where Dawncloud crouched, her head bowed, and fur dripping with blood. Picking her way through the clearing she stopped by the young warrior.
"What happened?" She meowed. Her heart felt heavy with grief and sorrow, and she sighed, fighting to hide the pain that she felt weighing heavily on her heart.

Dawncloud hardly heard her clan mate talking to her. "It was my fault," she whispered numbly. "I could have saved them.... If only I could have stopped Willow." She whispered, a terrible blankness back in her eyes. Her entire body was trembling with grief, guilt, and anger, and she felt like sobbing and crying her grief out to Starclan.

Mapleherb called to all cats gathered "I have reciied a sign, it told me that frozenflame was to be the next leader of lightclan, through our grief we must move on and survive" mapleherb voice faltered as she looekd down.
Frozenflame gasped as her name was called, slowly she padded up to the rock and called "I will do my best to serve this clan and protect all in this clan. I say these words before our leader nad deputeys bodys so they may hear and aprove of my choice. dawncloud shasll be lightclans new deputey. she is worthy of a high rank and has proved herself many times." frozenflame jumped doen and muttered to mapleherb "what do i do know"
"You must come t the shadowstone imediatly" mapleherb replied.

Dawncloud was not listening to the announcement. If she hadn't been so weak she could have saved her leader and deputy. She had failed her clan. She bowed her head again, imagining scorn ringing through the air and stinging her ears.

Tawnyclaw stared at her clan-mate with deep sympathy in her eyes. She meowed to Dawncloud, "Don't blame yourself. Lilystar would not have wanted that," she meowed, pushing her muzzle into the she-cats side. She turned back to Mapleherb as the Medicine Cat spoke.
She was one of the first cats to yowl, "Frozenflame! Frozenflame!" As though it was her Warriors ceremony all over again.

If a cat could blush Frozenflame would be bright red. She saw dawncloud and lept down and licked her head. "Now you are deputey you have to be strong and defend your clan" she muttered.
Mapleherb called her to come so she ran away calling "Look after the clan while i am away"

(Hey. What? Is Dawncloud Deputy? Sorry I'm stupid this morning! Isn't the leader supposed to announce the new deputy when they get back from getting their nine lives and name?)
Dawncloud looked up at Tawnyclaw, her eyes shadowed. "But I let them die... I could have protected them. I'm a warrior, but then I failed," she bowed her head again, digging her claws into the ground.
