As you all must be wondering, (after reading some of the other things) what happened during the great fire. Well, one day, a monster crashed on a Thunderpath bordering all four clans. Their was a huge explosion, and fire began to spread like rain clouds on a very stormy day. It kept spreading, until it had burned through all four clans territories. Here is a replay of all four clan leader's experiences.
LightClan- Marshstar. MistClan- Puddlestar. BreezeClan- Moonstar. PineClan- Whitestar.
Marshstar:
"Fire! Run! LightClan, run!" Marshstar yowled hurtling down the slope towards camp. He had been patrolling the border, saw the twoleg monster crash, saw it explode, and saw the fire begin to spread. Below him, his clan broke up into terrified groups, as the raced from den to den, looking for their clan mates, searching for stragglers. "Come on!" He yowled. "Run!" He bolted with his clan through their beloved forest, heading for the Shadowstone. The fires roared behind them, burning ever so closer. Suddenly a terrified yowl rose through the air. "StarClan help us!" Marshstar spun around and spotted Reedtail and her kits trapped beneath a crevice in the ground, blocked by the fallen tree. As he stared in horror, the fire cracked, and the tree burst into flames. "Reedtail!" Tigerstipe yowled, hurtling towards him mate. "No! Wait, Tigerstripe, come back!" Marshstar shrieked at his former apprentice. It was too late. Tigerstripe had already sprang over the burning tree trunk, grabbed Littlekit in his jaws, and passed Orangekit to Reedtail. "Take it!" He ordered, thrusting the terrified kit at its mother. "We'll jump together!" The two cats bunched their muscles, and with the kits dangling from their jaws, took a flying leap over the fiery trunk. Then Tigerstipe dropped Littlekit on the ground, and glanced back at the burning forest. Reedtail and her kits kept running towards them. 'Crack!' The terrible cracking noise made every cat freeze. The could only stare in horror as a second tree fell, strait at Tigerstipe. The young tom turned to run, but it was too late. The tree was already on top of him. "Tigerstipe, no!" Reedtail dropped Orangekit, and wailed her grief to the indigo night sky. Marshstar darted, forward, his chest heavy with grief. "We have no time, Reedtail! We will grieve for Tigerstipe later, believe me. But we have to get your kits out of here!" He grabbed, Littlekit, and passed the kit to Morningheart. Pity made Marshstar cringe as Reedtail glanced back once more with despair, then she grabbed her kit, and pelted after her clan, until they were safely out of the forest. Marshstar looked back, feeling hollow with relief. His clan had made it, but what about the others?
Puddlestar:
Smoke rose like the sun in the morning as the fire raged around them. Puddlestar leaped after her clan into the forest heading for the Rogue territory. It was the only place safe for her clan right now. Lakestep slowed down beside Puddlestar. "Where is Petaltail?" He wailed. Puddlestar stopped dead, looking around for his deputy. "Petaltail?" Puddlestar yowled. A panicked yowl sounded behind him as Grayheart pelted into after her clan. "Petaltail is dead!" She wailed. Her eyes were clouded with grief, and guilt. Puddlestar stared at her, wild eyed with shock. 'No!' He thought. 'She couldn't be dead!' "What happened?" He yowled, leaping back beside the devastated she-cat. Grayheart's fur was prickling with grief. "He came back to help me!" She wailed. "I should have never left without him!" She bowed her head. "She would still be alive it it wasn't for me!" Lakestep pushed his muzzle comfortingly into the cats side. "No," he murmured. "It's not your fault. He would have never left a clan-mate behind." He gazed intently into Grayheart's eyes. Suddenly the forest erupted into a great fire around them. "We have to go!" Lakestep yowled at Puddlestar. "Come on!" The rest of the clan had already fled. and the last three MistClan cats hurtled out of their territory, and rested at the other side of the stream on rogue territory. Puddlestar hung his head. 'Why Petal? Why did she have to dye?' He wailed to himself.
Whitestar:
Whitestar hurtled through the pine-trees, her white fur stained with blood and ash. They were heading for the Shadowstone. Hopefully they would be safe their. They had already lost three of their warriors. Whitestar led his clan through the soggy undergrowth, hoping the wetness would slow the fire down. No such luck. The fire was on their tail. Suddenly their was a creaking sound ahead. Whitestar looked up, and saw a branch break off a huge Pine tree, and hurtle down through the air, strait toward three unguarded kits. "Owlkit! Redkit! Leopardkit!" She yowled, recognizing her kits instantly. The three kits scattered, their wails echoing their panicked yowls. Whitestar launched herself forward on her own accord, and without realizing what she was doing, hurtled strait into her three kits, knocking them flying to safety. Pain hit her spine, and she collapsed to the ground, her senses spinning away. Within seconds, everything went black, and she woke up in StarClan's clearing.
Whitestar was on her last life before the fire, and she sacrificed herself to save her kits. PineClan made it out, without losing any more cats, and were safe.
Moonstar:
Moonstar yowled her anger to the night sky. "StarClan! Why are you letting this happen?" She yowled. Her clan raced in panicked yowls around her, unsure where to go, and without listening to Moonstar's or Yellowstipe's orders. "This way! Their is a way out!" Icestripe yowled. Half the clan turned and raced out the place Icestripe had pointed out. Suddenly it burst into flames, and every cat who had ran that way disappeared forever. "No!" Moonstar yowled in utter despair. She felt her stress over-come her, and yowled at her warriors with the up-most fury. "All of you STOP!" She screeched, with undisguised anger. Every cat froze at her furious yowl. "Enough! You will listen to what Yellowstripe and I tell you, and you will get out! Stop panicking! We are leaving this way!" Moonstar hissed, leading her few remaining warriors to the safest escape. If they went this way, the could outrun the fires, and meet up at the Shadowstone. Her heart churning, with more feelings she could describe at once, Moonstar and her warriors launched themselves out of BreezeClan territory, to where LightClan and PineClan were waiting. Moonstar bowed her head. She was supposed to protect her clan. But instead, half of them were dead because of her. She had failed.
After the fires, every clan had made it out with several great losses. But despite the terrible tragedy, the cats pulled though.
