Russetpaw paced around the clearing of the Mistclan Camp, his paws itching to go out into the forest, to get away from his father, but also, to go see his sister. He knew he had just come out of the Medicine Den, receiving the news that she had not gotten any better, but she hadn't gotten any worse either, and now he was debating whether to stay in their the rest of the day. He knew he should be out in the forest, hunting and fighting for his clan, but his sister meant so much to him and now he was unsure of what to do. His golden yellow eyes glittered with a mixture of fear and uncertainty, but he tried to hide it inside. Goldenstream was sharing tongues with a fellow clan mate outside of the Warrior's Den, but he was too depressed to make his way over to his mother. Russetpaw hunched over, digging his claws into the ground. Every cat in the clan knew he was an emotional wreck, and he was doing nothing to alter their opinions. Lashing his tail with worry he turned and headed towards the Medicine Cat's Den, but then stopped short, undecided. Without thinking he turned and hurried towards the Warrior's Den, just trying to get away from everything, but a voice stopped him...

"Russetpaw!" Oakclaw called out from where he was standing near the camp entrance. His fur ruffled in the breeze and the deputy hunched his shoulders forward, he had a friendly expression on his face. This would be his second apprentice since Heatherpaw had become a warrior.

Russetpaw turned his head at his mentor called his name, and he padded over to Oakclaw, his small paws skimming the earth. "I'm ready, Oakclaw," he meowed, although his mew sounded rather tired. He had stayed up most of the night worrying about his sister, and hoping she would be better. But some part of him new the sickness was too powerful. He looked up at his mentor, and shuffled his paws again, hoping they could hurry because he just wanted to leave behind his worry in the camp.
